A Hong Kong Main Board listed company invests in one of the largest natural forest in South America and is looking for high caliber to fill the following positions:
FOREST COMPLIANCE & CERTIFICATION MANAGER (Suriname Stationed)
(Suriname - Suriname)
Responsibilities:
- To implement globally recognized forest certification: FSC, Assurance Management System (ISO 9001:2000, 14001; OHSAS 18001) for managing the forest concession as an economically viable enterprise
- Advise the senior management on good forestry practice with due regard for forest environment protect and sustainable forest management
- Coordinate with departments to make sure the forest concession is well protected from illegal felling, pests and diseases
- Maintain and manage the balance between various issues associated with woodland areas, such as commercial interests, biodiversity, water supplies, soil, landscape and public access
- Liaise with public and local authorities and with other professionals, such as landscape architects, biologists, geologist, chartered surveyors and engineers, charitable bodies, NGOs
- Keep up to date with legal changes and other developments
- Report promptly and accurately on all activities in forest to the senior management
Requirements:- A degree or diploma in forestry, horticulture or related discipline
- At least 5 years relevant managerial and operational experience
- The commercial acumen to contribute to the running of a profit-making operation
- Well developed people management skills and the ability to work well within a team environment
- Effective influencing and negotiating skills
- Well developed organizational, communication and planning skills
